My background, why I write Beyond Commonsense blog.

Hi, I’m Ephraim Tekle; I write Beyond Commonsense Blog to share my lifetime learning and observation on Philosophy, Science and Religion (and to some and hopefully limited extent on Politics). My academic background is in Physics and Computer Science and obtained my graduate (Physics and IT) and undergraduate (Physics and Mathematics) degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I currently work as a scientist at a National Laboratory.

I was raised by an Orthodox Christian family. In reality, my dad was a skeptic while my mom was deeply religious. The greatest gift my parents gave me as a child was the freedom to think for myself—a mind unfettered by religious dogma. Thus, I can say I’ve been a philosopher and a scientist all my life—albeit at varying depth at the different stages of my life.

I started Beyond Commonsense in 2007 as a platform to share with the rest of the world my thoughts and analysis of the physical and metaphysical world.
